Organic and natural food

It is with pride that I am announcing that there is no more GMO food being sold anywhere. It seems that the agri-business giants have come to their senses. Monsanto and the rest of Big Scary Ag no longer sell more chemicals, and 2018 will be the end of the anti-GMO movement. Hooray for us ! Only healthy, organic and natural produce are available to all.
How did I come to this great conclusion? Well, for many days and months, I walked the aisles of several produce selling stores, and was met with lots and lots of labels claiming “organic, non GMO, natural, free range, no additives, hormone-free, food is no longer produced in a facility that also processes other nuts and soy, no added chemicals or flavorings”. The dirty water, morphed from Almond-milk to Almond Breeze, and is free of dairy, soy, lactose, cholesterol, peanuts, casein, gluten, eggs, saturated fat and MSG.
The truth is, soybean and corn are 100% GMOs, while sugar beets, alfalfa, canola, papaya, and summer squash, along with genetically modified versions of apples, and potatoes are presently at 90%. Vegetable oil, vegetable fat, and margarines are made with GMO soy, corn, cottonseed and/or canola oil. The sweetener in many juices and sodas is high fructose corn syrup, which is almost always derived from GMO corn.
What can a customer do? Steer clear of sugar, soybeans, soy flour, soy protein, soy isolates, soy isoflavones, soy lecithin, vegetable proteins, textured vegetable protein (TVP), tofu, tamari, and soy-protein supplements. Be careful of corn-derived ingredients. Don’t purchase corn flour, cornstarch, corn syrup, cornmeal, corn gluten, corn masa, and high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). A four-digit PLU label indicates it was conventionally grown; a five-digit number beginning with an 8 indicates it is a GMO product.
For me, GMO food has never been a concern. To begin with, I grow my own food, or at least 90% of what I eat now. That started right after I asked myself just one question: would I rather eat an egg laid by a real chicken or some idiot in a white lab coat?
