There are 7427 blatant absurdities in the bible. Among them:
The study of inconsistencies in the Bible has a long history. In the 17th century, Spinoza considered the Bible to be “a book rich in contradictions.” In the 18th century, Thomas Paine in “The Age of Reason” compiled many of the Bible’s self-contradictions. And in 1860, William Henry Burr produced a list of 144 self-contradictions in the Bible. This is an updated list of over 712 inconsistencies in the Bible.
Genesis 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
This delightful tale of the skyscraper Babel makes it hard to take the bible seriously; at the same time, it’s so funny that it shouldn’t be ignored. God worries that people could actually build a tower high enough to reach him (them?) in heaven. Now that’s funny; because no liquor is needed to enjoy this joke. And God who is supposed to be everywhere had to come down to see what he couldn’t from heaven. God’s abode was close enough, yet too far.
