Coronavirus vs the flu

The news is out: [There are now 34,828 confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide and at least 724 people have died, according to the latest figures from the World Health Organization (WHO). The number of cases and deaths in China continues to rise — China’s National Health Commission’s most recent update cited 34,546 cases and 722 deaths.
In contrast, at least 19 million people in the U.S. have experienced flu illnesses this season, the CDC estimates. About 180,000 people have been hospitalized so far, and an estimated 10,000 have died. Sixty-eight children have died this flu season.]
