The news is out: [The founder of an iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant and his son were charged Friday with tax evasion and other related offenses for allegedly shielding $8 million in receipts from the Internal Revenue Service.
Anthony Lucidonio Sr. and his son Nicholas Lucidonio, who operated Tony Luke’s, are accused of depositing only a portion of the store’s proceeds into business accounts while filing false business and personal tax returns.
Prosecutors said that the Lucidonios, both of New Jersey, engaged in the alleged activities for 10 years, ending in 2016.
The pair also are charged with filing false employment tax returns by “substantially understating” paid wages between 2014 and 2015.]
Maybe they were saving the money for a rainy year.
