The news is out: [LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced a “substantial” financial settlement Tuesday afternoon of $12 million with the family of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old Black woman fatally shot by police in her apartment six months ago.
The settlement was announced at a 2 p.m. press conference at Mayor Fischer’s office, with Taylor’s family and attorneys Ben Crump, Sam Aguiar and Lonita Baker.
In addition to the payment, the deal includes several policing reforms, including a requirement that commanders approve all search warrants before they go to a judge.]
Like I said so many times “sue the bastards” that’s the only way many cities, towns and counties will learn to avoid hiring criminal cops. In this case, and many others, the judge who signed up on the no-knock warrant should also be sued.
