The news is out: [A Jacksonville police officer has been arrested after a woman said he tried to arrange the return of her property in exchange for inappropriate photos, Undersheriff Pat Ivey said Monday.
Brian Robert Pace, 36, was jailed early Monday on a second-degree felony charge of bribery of a public servant, jail records show.
Pace had handled a reported theft of a woman’s cellphone and other property in May, Ivey said. The officer got in touch with the woman sometime later, saying the items had been found. However, Pace offered to return the woman’s possessions if she sent him “inappropriate” photos over the phone, the undersheriff said.
Ivey said Pace had contacted the woman again recently and asked about meeting her in person to return the property. They were to meet Sunday night, but investigators were waiting and arrested him after he arrived at the meeting spot.
Ivey said the woman had filed a complaint with the Sheriff’s Office about Pace this month. He is the seventh Sheriff’s Office employee arrested this year.]
That’s what they do.
